Sunroof

Veralex sunroof glass is made of different types of bended laminated glass. These come from our Head-company, Prelco Inc, located in Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec.

Laminated glass allows moreover a control of the sun and the UV radiation. It prevents a premature fading of valuable furnishings, displays or merchandise being a part of the inside of the boat’s cabin. It also provides an increased comfort of the occupants by affecting the temperature and filtering the sun rays.

Laminated glass is also known as a safety glass which secures the benefits of safety and other special applications. Its most important characteristic is the ability of the interlayer, a sheet of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) bonded between two or more lites of glass, to support and hold the glass if broken or cracked.

FABRICATION PROCESS

Tempered glass is subjected to a special heat-treating process that locks the surface in a state of compression to help and prevent cracking. Heat treating consists in heating the glass to just below the softening point (620°C / 1200°F) and then cooling it rapidly and uniformly. The mechanical strength and thermal endurance of tempered glass is four (4) to five (5) times higher than annealed glass.
